India's Reliance Jio on Thursday announced the launch of Jio GigaFiber FTTH home broadband service that will be rolled out in 1,100 cities across the country.

Customers of the new Jio GigaFiber service can enjoy high speed broadband with speeds up to 1Gbps and at the same time, have access to Reliance's Pay TV service, GigaTV.  

With the new GigaTV Set-Top Box(STB), Jio promises more than 600 TV channels, thousands of movies and other content in 4K UHD resolution. Customers can also enjoy a host of other features with the GigaTV STB such as Multi-party video conferencing, Voice-activated virtual assistant, VR(virtual reality) gaming and smart home security and automation features.

The FTTH service from Jio has been under the testing phase since 2016. Customers will be able to register for the Jio GigaFiber service via Jio website and MyJio app from 15th of August.
