ZTE claims that it has passed the acceptance test of China Mobile’s Hohhot SDN Project, the world’s largest private cloud based on OpenStack architecture based on ZTE SDN vDC solution.

As a tier-1 private cloud project of China Mobile, the Hohhot SDN project has a large network scale with various testing product series in complicated testing scenarios.

ZTE claims that it has completed more than 500 test items with ultra-high complexity, meeting the stringent requirements of China Mobile in the indicators such as protection switching time and latency.

The success in the test of demonstrating the high stability and excellent interoperability of ZTE vDC controllers and switches.

In December 2016, ZTE was selected to build China Mobile Huhhot private cloud SDN project to assist China Mobile in large-scale deployment of SDN controllers, Data Center (DC) switches, distributed virtual switches (DVS), firewalls, load balancers, and unified network management systems.

ZTE vDC controller manages 1800 vSwitches and 60 pairs of ToR switches, involving totally over 4000 physical servers. With a much larger commercial network scale compared with the peer level network, it sets a new standard for the industry. The Hohhot DC SDN system will become the largest SDN that simultaneously supports virtual hosts and bare metal servers across China or even the world.

The success in the test helps China Mobile realize large DC cloudification, integrate Internet and transport network with SDN network, implement cloud network synergy, provide efficient and easy upper layer service deployment, and provide support for applications in the cloud, all of which get fully recognized by China Mobile.

With a completely open architecture, ZTE SDN vDC solution supports the OpenvSwitch.

Being compatible with the mainstream virtualization software, it has successfully connected with the large cloud system of China Mobile and the third party OpenStack cloud platforms such as Redhat. Besides, the integration of open source load balancer and VPN solution has been verified for L4-L7 service.
