Huawei announced at the recent Mobile World Congress Shanghai 2018 event that the Company will launch a 5G-ready Kirin chip in March 2019 and a 5G smartphone three months later.
Speaking at the event, Huawei's rotating and acting CEO, Eric Xu also revealed the Company's plans to launch E2E NSA 5G commercial systems on September 30, 2018, and E2E SA 5G commercial systems on March 30, 2019.
Eric envisions Huawei becoming a leader in the market with its 5G smartphones, "These products will allow consumers that want higher speeds to enjoy an incredible 5G experience as soon as possible. Huawei is ready to work with our industry partners, to invest and to innovate, so that together we can succeed in delivering the 5G mission."
Durring the same event, Huawei signed a 5G strategic partnership agreement with China Unicom to fully leverage their respective innovative strengths in 5G and focus on cooperation in E2E 5G technical verification, cooperation with vertical industry partners, building of the 5G ecosystem, and 5G service incubation and promotion.
