Just ended yesterday was the SDN & OpenFlow World Congress 2014 which took place in Germany. As the Software Defined Networking becomes a central topic in the design of today's networks, major deployments have and are taking place as service providers begin to transform their mobile networks making it leaner and more responsive in churning out new products and services in the market place. The event, which drew expert speakers and exhibitors from the SDN and network functions virtualization (NFV) circles as well as more than 1500 delegates was held at the Swissôtel Düsseldorf from 13th October to 17th October. The SDN solutions and first applications were demonstrated at the ONF SDN Solutions Showcase while the NFV solutions were demonstrated at the ETSI NFV PoC Zone. The event also showcased use cases in Carrier Network, Cloud, Datacentre, Mobile and Enterprise contexts from senior network strategists.
