Hotspot 2.0

Hotspot 2.0 or the Wi-Fi Certified Passpoint, is an initiative by Wi-Fi Alliance that aims to enable mobile users to enjoy seamless WiFi roaming, automatically and securely, based on the 802.11u standard. The 802.11u standard promises cellular-like roaming, automatically performing network discovery, registration, provisioning, and access processes.

The technology allows user devices to detect a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect to the network seamlessly allowing users to switch from cellular to WiFi and vice-versa without their intervention.
