NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT)

NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT) is an LTE-Advanced technology that enables connectivity to devices and services that require low data rates and low power consumption.

By design, this 3GPP standardized cellular based Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) network supports wide area coverage, deep indoor penetration and battery life of more than 10 years for end devices.

NB-IoT complements two other standards under 3GPP's IoT portfolio, MTC (LTE-M1) and EC-GSM-IoT to support a wide range of use cases. NB-IoT can be deployed within the existing LTE spectrum and most often can be quickly enabled through firmware updates on the existing 4G LTE network.
