Infovista recently announced the successful deployment of Planet 7.2 to design KDDI's nationwide 5G network.

Planet 7.2 is the latest iteration of its advanced RF Planning and Optimization software for wireless networks. Planet 7.2 provides customers with new, unprecedented levels of accuracy and performance with the inclusion of enhanced 3D capabilities.

Infovista also announced that KDDI is using Planet for its RF planning as the company rolls out 5G technology to the Japanese market. Infovista provides KDDI with the technology to plan the company’s 5G network — including 3D-enabled design capabilities, support for multi-scenario decisions and automated LTE/5G planning — enabling them to meet the challenge of implementing 5G coverage in advance of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Infovista said that Planet 7.2 has the ability to use live data to model and predict mobile traffic heatmaps with improved accuracy, leveraging high-definition 3D Geodata and proprietary geospatial algorithms. Other new capabilities include:

Compatibility with TEMS 5G drive tests for model tuning, 5G site verification and radio optimization5G NR Monte Carlo simulation for precise network capacity assessmentEnhanced 3D planning support for M-MIMO antennas and beam sweeping technology5G spectral efficiency optimization using 3D Automated Cell Planning (ACP)New call-trace based troubleshooting and optimization module.
