With MWC Barcelona taking place this week at the Fira Gran Via, Ariana Lynn, Principal Analyst at The Fast Mode spoke to Prianca Ravichander, Head of B2B2X Monetisation & CMO at Tecnotree on the company's participation at the event.

Ariana: What are some of the key themes of this year's MWC?

Prianca: The topics at this year’s MWC are diving deep into technologies and developments redefining every aspect of telecoms, from AI at Edge, AI for telco operations, Generative AI for enterprises, visions for 6G: sensing & mobile XR, satellites & non-terrestrial networks, to concept devices, AI on devices, wearables & assistants, spatial computing, smart glasses, and sustainability.

Some of the key themes include 5G, connected everything, humanising AI, digital technologies to improve the performance of the manufacturing sector, extended reality breaking the boundaries between the digital and physical worlds, and the role of digital inclusion and technology in driving DEI and its importance for businesses across different sectors, including telecoms.

The event will explore advancements in 5G technology, harnessing customer data to personalise interactions and build robust products and partner ecosystems to maximise 5G revenues and enrich the telco ecosystems with payments and fintech services.

Industry experts will discuss the role of augmented intelligence in enhancing human intelligence for CSPs and their customers, the role of IoT and private networks in helping organisations make improved decisions; the impact of IoT & edge computing on decision-making, the significance of satellite telecommunications for emergency responses and how CSPs are evolving their business models to incorporate sustainability and AI.

Furthermore, sessions will unravel the complexities of integrating AI/ML technology into business processes and customer experiences, how CSPs can achieve goals for revenue monetisation and customer experience across the customer lifecycle for FTTX and mobile; how the investments and initiatives around generative AI and large language models help CSPs drive ROI from customer experience & monetisation over the network, and the role of augmented intelligence in enhancing human intelligence for CSPs and their customers. The discussions will also focus on constructing effective DEI strategies and driving business value through higher degrees of engagement and innovation.

Ariana: What are some of the events that Tecnotree has lined up? Any showcases?

Prianca: Tecnotree has an exciting line-up of events planned for MWC 2024. Tecnotree will be conducting its flagship invite-only sessions called Tecnotree Connect, which will feature four exclusive live panel sessions at Booth #5F81 on February 26th and 27th. The panel sessions will be led by industry leaders, from MTN, Vodafone, Telefonica, Microsoft, Telekom Serbia, TikTok, Omdia, Zain, and more, along with media & analyst partners, who will share their perspectives on the hottest core themes at MWC.

Additionally, Tecnotree will have their subject matter experts presenting interactive product demo experiences covering a range of innovative solutions. The demos will highlight real-world use cases including Humanising AI, Enterprise B2B2X, Convergent Charging & Billing, and B2B2X API monetisation. The use cases will span digital customer journeys; embedded AI; goal based recommendations for campaign management; digital wallets, charging processes and non-telco business enablement for telcos - providing a first-hand look at Tecnotree products and solutions.

Ariana: What's the outlook for telecoms, specifically the mobile industry in the next 12 months?

Prianca: Technological developments and evolving customer needs are driving revolutionary transformations within the telecommunications industry. The telecoms business is expected to undergo major shifts in the coming 12 months due to a number of significant developments that will involve a broad range of innovations. Some of the key trends include a specific focus on AI and the advent of Generative AI playing a pivotal role, with the vast amount of data that can be leveraged for an array of applications, and humanised interactions.

The maturity of 5G networks will be the focus, as CSPs concentrate their efforts on key use cases that can drive network monetisation. Businesses are now extending their services to other firms, creating a network of services that serve both businesses and end customers, which is marked by the emergence of B2B2X solutions with an enterprise focus. Partnerships providing cloud security solutions are becoming more prominent, and collaborative communications platforms with a CPaaS offering and IoT are the top services that are driving product portfolios.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is expected to grow rapidly with the introduction of 5G and edge computing. With artificial intelligence (AI) taking centre stage in advancing intelligence for numerous processes and decision-making, the Internet of Things' capacity to connect devices - from smart homes to industrial machinery - is opening a plethora of opportunities.

Finally, the prioritisation of sustainability in telecom operations is growing. In the coming year, the industry's commitment to sustainability will be centred around initiatives to drive digital efficiency, eradicate e-waste, and encourage the use of renewable energy sources.
