At the recently concluded GSMA WAS#9 event which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Tara Neal, Executive Editor of The Fast Mode spoke to Farook Siddik Ruwalla, Roaming Manager at Thuraya, a leading international mobile satellite Operator based in the UAE.
Farook shared some key insights on mobile satellite services and how Thuraya provides bilateral GSM roaming for inbound and outbound connectivity, which is key for communications during emergencies and also where conventional mobile coverage is unavailable.
Farook shared on how Operators and enterprise customers benefit from the roaming agreements with Thuraya including the single billing feature and the uniform tariffs across all the markets it serves. Farook also explained the type of customers it typically serves and shared some popular use cases. The interview also examined some of the service bundles provided by Thuraya to its customers and took a look at the recently released Thuraya handset.
