Russia's Beeline has launched the Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) pilot service in Moscow and the Moscow region.

This technology allows customers to make and receive voice calls over Wi-Fi networks in areas with weak mobile network signal. The service is already available on Samsung smartphones, including the Galaxy S21 Ultra flagships.

The service is provided free of charge. To connect it, users need to enable the 'Wi-Fi Calling' function in the smartphone settings. The smartphone must be connected to a Wi-Fi network with internet access. Calls via Wi-Fi are charged as regular voice calls and are included in tariff minute packages.

The new service was tested on the flagships of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and is already available to owners of a large number of models of the current line of smartphones of this brand: from junior models to the flagships of the Galaxy S21.

Dmitry Mashin, Director of the Moscow Region of VimpelCom PJSC
The launch of VoWiFi technology is a continuation of the systematic development of the network in the Moscow region. We strive to provide our customers with continuous service throughout the entire route and use modern technological solutions to improve the customer experience. Now Beeline customers will not miss an important call, even in those places where the mobile signal is unstable - in basements, underground parking lots or on the top floors of tall buildings.
