Telenor Sweden has launched network protection service for its mobile customers.

The Network Protection service blocks malicious pages, fake SMS links and emails with fake links for both existing and new customers completely free of charge.

Online fraud and online violations are some of the crimes that are on the rise and the methods are becoming more and more credible, at the same time that many people find it shameful to report when they have been exposed. According to a survey conducted earlier this year among Telenor's customers, 70 percent are worried about having their identity exploited online, but only 44 percent have any protection.

Telenor's Network protection service will be available to all private mobile customers as well as small and medium-sized business customers. Network protection blocks harmful pages in the mobile phone that may contain viruses, malware, or other malicious software. When the protection is activated and the user is about to visit a web page with malicious content, a warning message appears on the screen. The service is automatically added without the user having to activate it himself. For those who wish to turn off the service, this can be done in the "Mitt Telenor" app. Network protection is activated for all new customers from 22 August and for existing customers gradually until 12 September.

Network protection is the latest in a long line of recently launched security services . In May, Nätsäker and Nätsäker Plus were released, which mean protection against ID theft and legal help against cyberbullying. Surfa Säkert is a security package that includes insurance and antivirus software.

With increased digital activity comes increased vulnerability and we have seen during the pandemic years that digital attacks and fraud attempts have become increasingly common. We have also received requests from customers for help with security. Security is one of our focus areas and we have long invested in strengthening it, both at company level and for consumers. We want to make it more difficult for fraudsters to access our customers and will continue to develop services. We will do everything to stop fraud and spread knowledge for prevention.
