Android Pay Makes Headway with Debut in UK

Google's mobile payment service, Android Pay is now available in the UK, allowing people to pay for things simply and securely with their Android smartphones. This builds on the launch of Android Pay in the US last year, with more countries to be included soon.

The launch will see the 'Tap and Pay' contactless payment being accepted in stores country-wide including favourite high street stores such as Boots, Starbucks and Waitrose and at theTube, bus and train stations with Transport for London. Businesses across the country with contactless terminals can start accepting Android Pay in their stores without having to do anything extra.

For customers to start using Android Pay, all they need to do is download the Android Pay app on Google Play and have an eligible MasterCard or Visa credit or debit card from one of the supported banks.

When it comes security, Google ensures users that the Android Pay supports industry standard tokenisation, where it does not send merchants users real card numbers when they make a purchase. Google also said that Singapore and Australia will be the next destinations for the service.
