Movistar, a leading Latin American telecommunications brand owned by Spain’s Telefónica, has awarded all its business-to-consumer, business-to-business and digital advertising accounts in Peru to Ad agency giant WPP.

WPP won the business in Peru after a competitive pitch that began in February that was conducted virtually. Media buying was not part of the review. Over the past 18 months, WPP’s remit with Movistar has grown with similar consolidations in Argentina and Colombia. WPP also manages the majority of Movistar’s business in Mexico and Chile.

In Latin America, WPP’s Team Telefonica comprises Superunion, VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson, all wholly owned by WPP, as well as Kantar, now a WPP associate company.

In addition, WPP works with Telefónica in most of its key markets including Brazil, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom on its Vivo, Movistar and O2 brands.

Jose Antonio Cassinelli, VP of Business to Consumer Marketing, Movistar Peru
This is a new phase in our relationship full of challenges and great responsibilities, but I am sure we will develop great work together.

John Lynn, WPP Global Client Leader
Our combination of services and how we manage to integrate them for Movistar in Peru as well as in other markets have been a determining factor in gaining their trust and confidence.
