SaskTel announced the successful implementation of its Smart Community Solution in the City of Melfort, as part of an ongoing collaborative project. This solution includes a range of innovative tools that will help the city access, manage, and share data more effectively across their organization. By doing so, Melfort will be able to find efficiencies, reduce operational costs and improve the delivery of municipal services to residents.
Originally announced in 2020, the “Smart Community” collaboration between SaskTel and Melfort is focused on bringing practical and innovative solutions to the community to improve operations and optimize future community development.
SaskTel’s Smart Community Solution includes a robust suite of asset management and geospatial analytic applications that will enable the City of Melfort to:
Capture and retain operational information to help reduce costs and improve service delivery
Extend the lifecycle of critical assets by predicting an asset’s length of service, arranging for regular maintenance, and anticipating part replacement or upgrading
Automate workflows to increase operational efficiency.
Create visual mapping to locate various assets, improve internal workflows, and communicate vital information
SaskTel’s Smart Community Solution was designed in partnership with Kvale Informatic Consulting Ltd., a local leader in Saskatchewan’s tech sector specializing in the collection, management, and analysis of data for business operations. The solution was specifically designed to bring industry-leading expertise and platforms that support asset management and geospatial analytics in an affordable package for organizations and municipalities of all sizes.
