Telkomsel, Indonesia's largest mobile operator has selected Ericsson for a full radio transformation in Indonesia's Kalimantan region. Telkomsel upgrades its existing GSM and WCDMA/HSPA mobile network to improve subscriber experience and prepare the region for the eventual rollout of 4G/LTE.

The upgrade will ensure that Telkomsel's network is equipped with multi-standard radio base stations for GSM and WCDMA/HSPA(3G) that can meet the rapidly increasing data demands and boost mobile broadband network performance, said Ericsson. The transformation project includes the introduction of Ericsson's RBS 6320, a low-cost, main remote enclosure product, developed for tropical climates.

Thomas Jul,  Head of Ericsson Indonesia and Timor-Leste
The transformation of Telkomsel's network will ensure its mobile data subscribers, especially those living in dense areas, will benefit from faster speeds and better network performance. This contract makes us a key partner for Telkomsel through this transformation and further strengthens our longstanding relationship.
